Yaqshid District Commissioner Survives Roadside Bomb Attack in Mogadishu

Ahmed Abdullahi Arif, the Yaqshid District Commissioner, survived a roadside bomb attack that targeted him in Mogadishu.

Security sources revealed that the District Commissioner was in his car when the suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blasted through the morning quiet.

The incident took place on February 28.

The attempt on Arif’s life was the second on early Sunday morning.

In the first attack, General Abbas Amin Ali, the Chief of Staff of Somali National Army (SNA) also barely escaped with his life.

Nevertheless, two of General Ali’s guards lost their lives in the morning incident.

The attack against Arif took place at Daresalam, an area in the capital city.

Although Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack against Gen. Ali, nobody has done so for the attempt on District Commissioner Arif’s life.
