Yasmin Abdi Farah has become the first female pilot in Somalia since 1991.
The last time Somalia had a female pilot was during the late President Siad Barre’s reign in 1991.
Asli Hassan Abade was the last female pilot in the country.
Most Somali women do not like working as pilots owing to the conservative culture in the country.
Yasmin expressed her delight at being commissioned as the country’s newest female pilot.
“I enjoy being a pilot and flying passengers to their preferred destinations,” she said.
