A young Member of Parliament in Puntland died in a road accident on Wednesday evening.
The newly-elected legislator, Mohamed Farah Mire, was killed while traveling to Bosaso, which is the commercial capital of Puntland.
At the time of the accident, MP Mire was traveling from Wa’iye District.
The deceased lawmaker represented his Bari Region constituency.
According to eyewitnesses, the MP died when a heavy truck ran over his car while approaching from the opposite direction.
The crash occurred on the main street between Wa’iye and Bosaso.
His driver sustained slight injuries from the tragic crash and was rushed to a local hospital where he continues to receive treatment.
His body will be transferred to his hometown where he will be laid to rest on Thursday.
