Young Somali Boy in Ethiopia Rewarded for being Honest

A young Somali boy in Ethiopia has been rewarded for being honest in the course of his daily work.

Guled Ibrahim came to the national limelight on March 1 when his story captured the hearts and minds of the nation.

Ibrahim, who makes a living by transporting passengers through his motorcycle, returned money that one of his clients had left in his Bajaj.

A woman, who was carrying 300,000 Ethiopian Birr, forgot the money in Ibrahim’s motorcycle.

He had just dropped her at the hospital where her son is admitted seeking medical attention.

It was then that the woman discovered she had forgotten the money in the Bajaj.

However, she could not trace it. All she could do was break down in tears and return home.

Ibrahim later discovered that the woman had left the money in his Bajaja. He went back to the hospital with the money but never found the woman.

Nevertheless, she was contacted on phone and returned to collect the money.

The story found its way to the offices of the Somali Regional government.

Consequently, the local government has pledged to support his educational pursuits past university.

Afterward, Ibrahim is to be employed.

Ibrahim had abandoned his educational pursuits to operate the Bajaja business as a way of fending for his poor parents and family.
