Twelve of Somalia’s presidential candidates are in Mogadishu holding a crucial meeting to discuss issues related to the upcoming polls.
The meeting has kicked off on Saturday, November 21.
According to multiple sources, the purpose of the meeting is to enable the leaders to come up with a uniform position on electoral issues.
Furthermore, they are likely to discuss ways of standing up against the ongoing “manipulation” of the electoral commissions by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
Two of the candidates already merged their parties into the Forum for National Parties (FNP).
It remains to be seen whether the 12 candidates would forego their ambitions to rally behind a single candidate.
