The Deputy Speaker of the House of People, Sadia Samatar, the Minister of Family Affairs and Human Rights Development, Lt. Gen. Bashir Mohamed Jama, and the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General for Regional Affairs, George Conway, officially launched the “16 Days” campaign today in Somalia.
The campaign is centered around the theme “Unite: Invest in Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls,” aiming to raise awareness and foster action to combat gender-based violence across the country.
This initiative, which the three top officials launched on Monday, is a key step in advancing efforts by different stakeholders to protect women and girls’ rights and well-being, especially in a society that does not offer them much protection.
