An opposition leader has expressed his confidence in Somalia’s ability to conclude parliamentary elections by February 25, 2022.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, a former President of Somalia, believes that the country has is capable of holding elections for the remaining seats on time.
The recent National Consultative Council (NCC) Conference placed a deadline of February 25 for the House of the People elections.
NCC agreed on this timeline on January 15 in Mogadishu.
That gives the East African nation a 40-day window to conclude Lower House polls.
Ex-President Mohamud warned that further elections delay could disappoint all the stakeholders.
He warned that failure to conclude the polls on time could push the country back to the unpopular transitional chapter.
