2.3 Million Somalis Received Humanitarian Assistance

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA) announced that over 2.3 million Somalis received assistance in 2020.

Last year, the country suffered multiple humanitarian disasters.

Floods, droughts, and locust infestation left millions of Somalis homeless, sick, unemployed, and in need of humanitarian assistance.

According to OCHA, the displacement recorded last year was worse than that of 2019.

Nevertheless, OCHA celebrated the fact that organizations providing humanitarian assistance in the East African nation rose to the occasion.

The effects of last year’s disasters are likely to continue being felt this year too.
