Two Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers were injured in a landmine attack in Gedo region’s Elwaq district.
Reports from the region indicate that the number of injured soldiers could be much higher.
The soldiers were attacked at a time when Jubaland regional state prepares to hold elections for Lower House seats.
According to sources, the attack took place inside the district administration headquarters.
At the time, the soldiers were stationed at the headquarters’ meeting hall.
The attack, on October 22, left the building badly damaged.
All soldiers injured in the attack are currently in a local hospital receiving treatment.
Local security officers have launched investigations into the incident to identify the people who carried it out with the intention of bringing them to book.
