Twenty-five Al-Shabaab militants were killed in a military operation carried out on April 12 in HirShabelle.
Somali National Army (SNA) announced that at least 25 extremists died in its operation on Monday night.
SNA’s Danab Special Forces carried out the operation.
Hassan Mohamed Osman, Danab’s Acting Commander, said that the operation took place at Gambole, a town located 48kms away from Jowhar.
Osman promised that his forces would intensify their operations in the region to flush out all the insurgents.
The Danab commander told SNA Radio that his officers acted on intelligence reports received on the plans by the militants.
