Somalia’s Ministry of Health has published the latest COVID-19 numbers, which continue to paint a sad picture for the country.

In the figures published on September 15, the health ministry confirmed 252 new COVID-19 cases.

Most of these (147) were from Somaliland. Puntland had 42 while Jubbaland followed with 41 cases. Banadir and Galmudug had 11 and 10 cases respectively.

With these, the number of confirmed cases is now at 18,820.

Sadly, nine new deaths have pushed the tally of fatalities to 1,041.

On the positive side, the health ministry confirmed that 72 patients had recovered fully from the disease, a tally that pushes recoveries to 9,138.

These new numbers were from 2,421 samples that the health ministry tested throughout the country.
