Somalia Federal MP Says Explosives Pass through Checkpoints Easily

A federal Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of the People has blamed security checkpoints for allowing explosives to pass easily.

MP Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu said that security officers who allow explosives to pass easily through their checkpoints should be held accountable.

He said that some officers help people carrying explosives to pass through their security checkpoints easily.

Moalimuu lamented that it’s much more difficult for humans to pass through such checkpoints.

“There has to be real accountability among the officers manning security checkpoints around the country,” Moalimuu said.

His comments come in the wake of the recent deadly terror attack in Mogadishu’s K-5 Junction.

Close to 107 people died in the October 29 attack while 300 others were injured.
