3 Aid Workers Killed in Somalia from April-June 2023

Three aid workers lost their lives in Somalia in April-June 2023.

This is according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which released this data on Tuesday.

Two of them died when flash floods in northern Somalia’s Gabiley district swept away the vehicle they were traveling in.

The other one died in an Al-Shabaab attack at Pearl Beach Hotel, Mogadishu on June 8.

Furthermore, 9 aid workers were abducted in different parts of the country over the same period, as per the OCHA report.

Two abductions were reported in the regional state of Southwest on June 23 and one in HirShabelle on June 5.

Five of the abductees have thus far been released after local elders intervened.
