Somalia has confirmed 36 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, the Ministry of Health announced.
The new cases are from 47 people who were tested on Friday. Consequently, the number of confirmed cases in the country has now reached 116.
Dr. Fawziya Abikar, the country’s minister in charge of the health docket, announced the first confirmed COVID-19 case in February.
Since then, the cases have increased at a scary pace. The government has been forced to institute several measures designed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
It has asked Somalis to observe social distancing, wash their hands frequently, and to stay at home.
Further, people suspected of contacting those diagnosed with the disease are asked to go into isolation or self-quarantine.
