4 African Countries Support Somalia’s Request for Delay in Withdrawing ATMIS Troops

Four African countries have thrown their weight behind the decision by Somalia to ask for a delay in the withdrawal of African Union (AU) troops.

The four nations in question are Uganda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Burundi.

Reliable sources in the headquarters of the United Nations leaked information regarding the approval by the four countries.

A few days ago, it was confirmed that Somalia had formally requested a 90-day delay.

Reports now indicate that the four neighboring nations from the East African region endorse Somalia’s application.

AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has already reduced its troops by 2,000. It was expected to embark on the second phase by withdrawing 3,000 additional troops by the end of September.
