40 Women in Hiiraan Trained on Environmental Peacebuilding by IOM and EU

Forty women from Hiiraan have received training that empowers them to resolve conflicts and pursue or promote environmental peacebuilding initiatives in the region.

The empowerment of 40 women in Mataban district, Hiiraan region, is a significant step toward fostering environmental peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

With support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Somalia and the European Union (EU) in Somalia, these women are gaining skills in natural resource management, environmental sustainability, and regenerative farming.

This initiative not only enhances local capacities for managing environmental resources sustainably but also promotes social cohesion by equipping women to address conflicts tied to resource scarcity and environmental challenges.

By involving women in these efforts, local authorities are strengthening community resilience and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
