5 Somali Americans Convicted of COVID-19 Food Scam in Minneapolis

Five Somali Americans were convicted of COVID-19 food scam by a United States jury in Minneapolis.

They were among 70 individuals accused of defrauding the government.

The value of the food items that the accused scammed was put at $49 million.

Two other accused were set free after the jury found they had played no role in the scam.

Some of the crimes filed against the defendants included money laundering, bribery, and wire fraud to mention a few.

Those found guilty include Abdiaziz Shafii Farah, Mohamed Jama Ismail, Abdimajid Mohamed Nur, Mukhtar Mohamed Shariff, and Hayat Mohamed Nur.
