6.5 Million Somalis to Face Acute Food Insecurity between April and June, FAO Says

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) projects that 6.5 million people in Somalia could face acute food insecurity between April and June this year.

FAO added that it expects millions of Somalis to face food insecurity that is either at a crisis or worse levels in the next four months.

The number is quite shocking as it represents a third of the Somali population.

Consequently, FAO has issued a call for additional funding from the international community. It stated that the country needs urgent funds and intervention.

Without the funds and intervention, the country would struggle to improve food security.

Worse still, it would be unable to enjoy water security.
