Eight Al-Shabaab militants were killed during a security operation conducted in Dhusamareb on the night of February 4.
Security agents in the region say that the militants were killed during an operation carried out to capture the militants responsible for the second mortar attack in the city this week.
On Thursday night, suspected Al-Shabaab extremists carried out a repeat mortar attack in the city that is currently hosting the National Consultative Conference on elections.
On Monday, Dhusamareb experienced the first mortar attack by Al-Shabaab adherents.
Security officials said that they launched an operation immediately after the mortar attack, which led to the death of eight militants.
In the meantime, the officers also seized several weapons that included mortar shells.
The mortar shells were seized from the slain Al-Shabaab militants during the operation conducted on the outskirts of Dhusamareb.
