The Ministry of Health has confirmed 997 COVID-19 cases in Somalia.
Dr. Fawziya Abikar, the health minister, announced 69 new cases that bring the total close to a thousand, which is the highest in the Horn of Africa region.
While issuing daily updates to the country, Dr. Abikar also announced four more recoveries. Consequently, 110 patients have recovered from the virulent disease in the country.
Meanwhile, four more patients have died of the disease thus pushing the total number of deaths to 48.
Somalia is reeling in the wake of this pandemic, which has so far claimed the lives of 279,000 people globally.
More than 4.1 million individuals have been diagnosed with the disease, which has disrupted economies and daily activities worldwide.
