The Zoom call between Abdirahman Abdishakur and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar took place on Wednesday, June 29.
Abdishakur, recently appointed Special Envoy for Drought Response by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, updated the Somali-born US Congresswoman on the humanitarian situation.
Abdishakur briefed Congresswoman Omar on the devastating impact of the ongoing drought.
He also provided detailed information on funding gaps.
The Special Envoy for Drought Response commended Congresswoman Omar for agitating the US government to increase funding for Somalia’s drought response efforts.
