A ministerial committee has been appointed to welcome back President Said Abdullahi Deni of the semiautonomous region of Puntland back to the state.
Vice President Ahmed Osman E. Karaash appointed the committee on Thursday, October 15, after chairing a meeting of the Council of Ministers.
Karaash has been the Acting President as Deni left the state to attend the National Consultative Conference in Mogadishu.
The conference was held to deliberate the best electoral model for Somalia’s upcoming elections.
Representatives from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), the Federal Member States (FMS), and the Banadir Region all attended the conference.
Discussions have been ongoing for the last three months.
Leaders from FMS and FGS gathered in Mogadishu to conclude the discussions, which started in Dhusamareb in July 2020.
President Deni is expected back in Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland, on Sunday, October 18.
