Mahdi Mohamed Gulaid, the Acting Prime Minister in the Federal Government of Somalia, has congratulated three Somalis who were elected in Wednesday’s primaries in the United States.
Ilhan Omar won the ticket to defend her election in 2019 as the US Representative for the 5th Congressional District of Minnesota.
She defeated a well-funded Democrat in the August 12 primaries.
Prime Minister congratulated her on the win. He also congratulated Omar Fateh who defeated incumbent Jeff Hayden for the right to vie to represent District 62 in Minnesota State Senate.
Mahdi also recognized Jamal Osman’s win in Minnesota City Council’s special elections.
He praised the three Somalis for being trailblazers in the United States. Mahdi also hailed them for their exceptional accomplishments and undying civic participation.
The Acting Prime Minister tweeted that he expects to be working with these three leaders to help strengthen the ties between Somalia and the United States in future.
