An acute shortage of water has been reported in the Somali Region of Ethiopia.
The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) published a report for the period ending on July 7, 2021, on this issue.
The NBE report indicates that only 30 percent of the population could access safe and usable water in the region.
Consequently, local authorities now have a huge task of improving access to water.
The situation is likely to worsen considering that the entire Horn of Africa region is currently grappling with drought.
Experts believe that the region would be facing famine and starvation in the next few months.
