Africa Agricultural and Forestry Research Centre Officially Launched in Mogadishu

The Africa Agricultural and Forestry Research Center (AFREC) was officially launched in a colorful ceremony held in Mogadishu on Wednesday.

Its launch is a pivotal development for Somalia and the entire region, emphasizing the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and environmental conservation.

The theme, “Believe in Your Land, Increase Production, and Care for the Environment,” underscores the center’s commitment to fostering local agricultural innovation while promoting ecological stewardship.

The presence of officials from various federal ministries such as agriculture, environment, and other key sectors highlights the collaborative effort to address critical challenges such as food security, climate change, and deforestation.

AFREC’s establishment is expected to drive research, provide technical support, and facilitate knowledge-sharing to enhance agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability across Africa.

This initiative could serve as a model for other regions facing similar challenges, contributing to global efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
