The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) confirmed that it conducted an airstrike against Al-Shabaab fighters on March 10.
AFRICOM confirmed that it carried out the operation after receiving a request from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
The airstrike targeted Al-Shabaab fighters at Ugunji, which is roughly 71kms to the southwest of Mogadishu.
Initial reports indicate that three Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the collective airstrike.
A statement from AFRICOM added that no civilian was harmed, injured, or killed in the highly effective operation.
