The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) confirmed in its latest report that two civilians were injured during a military operation carried out early this year.
AFRICOM carried out the airstrike in Jilib Town in Southern Somalia.
In its latest report released on Friday, November 6, confirmed rumors flying around that it had hurt several civilians in the Jilib airstrike.
While releasing the report, AFRICOM stated that it would continue to publish more to increase the level of accountability and transparency in its affairs in the Horn of Africa region.
Human rights activists and extremists have often accused AFRICOM of killing or injuring civilians through its drone attacks.
For years, AFRICOM refused to share its side of the story.
Often, it claimed that no civilians were either hurt or killed during the airstrikes.
The statement pinpointed the attack in question as the one carried out on February 17, 2020.
Consequently, AFRICOM said that it had reported the incident and the subsequent injuries to the US Congress, the US Embassy in Mogadishu, and the Federal Government of Somalia.
