Al-Shabaab has advised Somalis to use honey to protect themselves against the deadly COVID-19.
A few weeks ago, the militia group was in the news for telling Somalis to avoid the AstraZeneca vaccine, which they termed “harmful.”
However, they failed to produce any evidence to support their claims.
On April 11, they asked Somalis to use a combination of honey and black seeds to boost the fight against COVID-19.
Currently, Somalia is on the second wave of the deadly pandemic.
The number of confirmed cases and fatalities has shot up considerably.
Somalia’s healthcare system is on its knees struggling to test and treat all individuals exposed to and diagnosed with the disease.
