Al-Shabaab claims that its fighters are back in control of Beledweyne.
A statement from Al-Shabaab through its sympathizers shows that its fighters retook control of the city in the Mudug region after government forces withdrew.
However, there has been no word from the Ministry of Defense on the allegations by Al-Shabaab.
Government troops liberated the city from Al-Shabaab’s control in September last year.
Beledweyne has changed hands repeatedly between Al-Shabaab and the government for years. It would be interesting to see how long Al-Shabaab stay in charge.
