Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the mortar shells thrown outside the federal parliament on April 18.
Parliamentarians were holding a joint session to agree on the rules of procedure and register individuals interested in the Speaker’s and Deputy Speaker’s positions.
Some unidentified individuals then hurled mortar shells outside the parliamentary premises in Mogadishu.
Reportedly, a few people were injured in the ensuing chaos.
The number of people injured in the Monday attack remains unclear.
Furthermore, it’s also unclear whether any deaths occurred as Al-Shabaab sought to attack parliamentarians who were holding their first joint session.
