Towards the end of 2019 up today, Al-Shabaab has faced a barrage of airstrikes from the US military. The drone attacks have killed tens of Al-Shabaab’s fighters.
Yesterday, the extremist group convened a “crisis conference” to consider the different threats it has been facing recently.
The Al-Qaeda linked militia has lost many of its traditional strongholds in the Horn of Africa nation including Janaale, which had been one of its most lucrative tax hubs.
Al-Shabaab’s five-day conference is taking place at an undisclosed venue in the country’s southern region.
According to Shabaab’s affiliate media, several delegates will be at the meeting. Intellectuals, Al-Shabaab leaders, Islamic scholars, and tribal leaders will attend the conference.
