An Al-Shabaab militant who was part of a group responsible for launching mortar shell attacks in Dhusamareb on February 1 have been arrested.

Security agents in the region launched a massive manhunt for the militants after Monday’s attack.

They arrested one of the militants outside the Galmudug State capital.

At the same time, the security personnel shot and killed three other Al-Shabaab extremists in the same operation.

Last night, they launched a mortar shell attack in the city a few hours after President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo arrived for the start of a national conference on elections.

Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble are in Dhusamareb for talks between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) on elections.

Key Somali leaders have been arriving in the city for the 3-day conference that kicked off on Monday and ends on February 3.
