Al-Shabaab Militants Repelled as They Attack a Lower Shabelle Town

Al-Shabaab militants were repelled as they attacked a town in the Lower Shabelle region on March 31.

Reports from the region indicate that the militants attacked Buulo Mareer late on Thursday.

However, they could not proceed with their attack after encountering African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and Somali National Army (SNA) troops.

The combined efforts of AMISOM and SNA troops stopped the militants in their tracks.

According to a few sources, the militants had entered and started attacking a few parts of the town before aborting their mission.

It’s not clear whether there were any casualties.
