Somali National Army (SNA) troops have repulsed the latest Al-Shabaab attack at a central Somalia army base.
Reports indicate that a contingent of SNA troops successfully stopped an attack by the militants on Monday night.
Security officials said the report could have led to the deaths of several soldiers had the extremists succeeded in their latest attempts.
The militants ambushed a military base at Ba’daha in Hiran, Central Somalia. Afterward, a gunfight lasting several hours ensued between the two sides.
Although both sides incurred losses, the actual number of casualties remains unknown.
The region has been the scene of countless attacks by the militants. The attacks have continued despite the huge number of SNA and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops.
