Kate Foster, who is the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Somalia, made her maiden visit to Puntland on September 28.
Ambassador Foster met and held discussions with President Said Abdullahi Deni of the regional state of Puntland.
Her visit comes as the region prepares for its local government elections in late October 2021.
During her visit, Ambassador Foster spoke of the importance of the upcoming elections to the democratization of the region.
The two leaders spoke about Puntland’s determination to hold one-person-one-vote (1P1V) elections.
They also discussed United Kingdom’s support to the democratization process in the region.
While in the region, Ambassador Foster also held discussions with officials of the Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission (TPEC).
She urged all Somali leaders to work together to deliver the elections, economy, and country that the citizens need.
