Ambassador Qin Jian was the first person in Somalia to receive a shot of the Sinopharm vaccine that China donated to the East African nation.
Jian, the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, was vaccinated on April 14.
He was vaccinated a few days after Somalia received the cache of 200,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from China.
Somalia received the doses on April 11.
Several other senior officers from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) joined Ambassador Jian in receiving their first shots.
Jian expressed gratitude to health workers in Somalia for leading the country in curbing the spread of the deadly disease.
