The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) awarded two of its military commanders for distinguished service in the East African nation.
AMISOM decorated Col. John Winston Mugarura and Lt. Col. Edward Fraser on August 5.
Col. Mugarura is the Deputy Commander of the AMISOM contingent from Uganda while Lt. Col. Fraser serves as the Commander of the United Kingdom-Mission Support Team (UK-MST).
They received their awards at the AMISOM Force Headquarters.
Lt. Gen. Diomede Ndegeya, the AMISOM Force Commander, presided over the ceremony where the two officers were recognized, decorated, and awarded with certificates.
While speaking at the event, Lt. Gen. Ndegeya commended the professionalism and dedication to AMISOM’s cause that the two officers have continuously displayed.
