AMISOM Establishes Joint Operations Centers with Somalia Forces

The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has established several Joint Operations Centers with security forces in Somalia.

Members of some of Somalia’s leading agencies are scheduled to start undergoing a 6-day training at the Banadir Joint Operations Center (JOC).

The training would help security officers acquire specialist skills that should serve them well during the upcoming elections in the country.

Participants at the training included 45 officers from the Somali National Army (SNA), Somali Police Force (SPF), and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).

All the officers would be trained on forensic investigations as well as intelligence-led policing.

Augustine Magnus Kailie, AMISOM’s Police Commissioner and Assistant Inspector General of Police, said the JOCs would boost the credibility, security, and integrity of the electoral process in Somalia.
