Lt. Gen. Diomede Ndegeya, the new Force Commander of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces visited his troops stationed in Beletweyne on Tuesday.
Beletweyne is home to the Sector 4 unit, which comprises officers from Djiboutian Armed Forces (DAF) and Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF).
Col. Abdirahman Riyale Hared, the Sector 4 Commander, received and welcomed Lt. Gen. Ndegeya at the Ugas Khalif Airport in Beletweyne.
Upon his arrival, Lt. Gen. Ndegeya inspected a guard of honor mounted by the Sector 4 troops.
Later, he held a closed-door meeting with Col. Hared and other top AMISOM officers working under the Sector 4 Commander.
Afterward, Lt. Gen. Ndegeya visited Governor Ali Jeyte Osman of Hiiraan region for briefings on the security situation in the area.
Lt. Gen. Ndegeya commended the Sector 4’s AMISOM soldiers for the excellent work they do in driving Al-Shabaab out of the area.
