African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) held a one-day symposium for human rights activists in Mogadishu.
The symposium took place on Sunday, November 15.
It also featured politicians, youth leaders, and representatives from civil society organizations in the East African country.
AMISOM organized the training to explore ways of strengthening women’s participation in the nation’s politics.
The Political Affairs Unit of AMISOM facilitated discussions during the symposium.
Participants were informed of proposals and initiatives designed to increase women’s involvement in politics.
Muna Hassan Mohamed, an officer with AMISOM’s Political Affairs Unit, said the Mission would not stop supporting such initiatives and forums.
He said that AMISOM is committed advancing the “participation of women and youths in the country’s political leadership.”
