AMTEL Licensed to Provide Mobile Money Service in Somalia

The Central Bank of Somalia (CBS) recently held its ordinary Board meeting in Mogadishu, where several significant decisions were made.

The main agenda was the Board’s approval of a mobile money service license for AMTEL, which is expected to expand digital financial services and enhance financial inclusion in Somalia.

Further, the Board of the Central Bank reviewed the progress of CBS’s ongoing reform agenda, assessing the measures taken to strengthen the financial sector’s stability and resilience.

Board members also discussed the budget performance report for the second quarter of 2024, evaluating CBS’s financial management and alignment with its strategic objectives.
