Anxiety has filled Somalia after sounds of war were heard in Ethiopia.
The sounds of war followed the latest development in Ethiopia where Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the Council of Ministers deployed soldiers to the Tigrean region.
Prime Minister Ahmed said that the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) soldiers are to be deployed to the region to “save the country.”
The Ethiopian Prime Minister said that the government took the decision following an “unprecedented attack on federal troops in by Tigray regional forces.”
According to the Prime Minister, the unprovoked attack on the federal forces was an act of war.
Consequently, there is likely to be war in Ethiopia, which borders Somalia. The country also has a large number of Somalis living and working within its borders.
If war breaks out, many of these Somalis are likely to be caught up in the skirmishes; thus, forcing them to return to Somalia.
The situation could be worse for a country that is scheduled to hold parliamentary elections in November 2020.
