Mogadishu, Somalia – Late last week, Somalia’s Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hassan Macalin, received a high-level delegation from the Arab League General Secretariat led by Zayd Al-Sabbaan. The team was accompanied by State Minister Ambassador Ilyas Sheikh.
During the meeting in Mogadishu, the delegation expressed strong admiration for Somalia’s continued progress in state-building, institutional development and economic reform. They also commended the government’s expanding efforts in education and governance restructuring, describing them as critical pillars for long-term stability.
Macalin briefed the officials on recent judicial reforms, constitutional review efforts and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening the rule of law across federal and regional jurisdictions. He also emphasised Somalia’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Arab League member states in areas ranging from legislative harmonisation to capacity-building.
Zayd Al-Sabbaan reaffirmed the Arab League’s readiness to support Somalia’s reform agenda through technical assistance, legal expertise and investment facilitation. He hailed the country’s resilience and urged regional actors to further rally behind Mogadishu’s development trajectory.
The visit is part of a broader diplomatic engagement between Somalia and the Arab League as the country consolidates gains in security, governance and economic recovery.
