Arab League Joins Calls for Somalia Leaders to Solve Elections Impasse

Arab League has joined the calls by Somalia’s international partners to solve the ongoing elections impasse in the country.

On February 12, Arab League issued a press statement urging Somali leaders to solve the impasse and hold elections as soon as possible.

Arab League comprises 22 member nations.

In their statement, the organization indicated that it has been observing the situation in the East African nation.

Consequently, it has urged Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) to “reach a comprehensive agreement that ends the deadlock.”

Furthermore, it urged Somalia’s leaders to embark on immediate discussions to solve the crisis.

Somalia is one of the 22 nations that make up the membership of the Arab League.
