Athletes in Somalia are in a celebratory mood after learning that a former boss of Somali National Olympic Committee (NOCSOM) is the new Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.
Duran Ahmed Farah once served as the head of NOCSOM.
On Monday, October 19, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble appointed Farah the new labor minister in the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
Roble appointed Farah while announcing his new cabinet ministers.
Somali athletes believe that Farah is the right person for the job considering his role in the development of sports in the country.
Many other current and former athletes believe that Farah should have been appointed the Minister of Sport, though.
Nevertheless, he still has a critical role to play in ensuring that Somali youths do not risk their lives in unprofitable or criminal activities.
