ATMIS and UNSOS Conclude Discussions on CONOPS

The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has concluded discussions on the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) with the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS).

According to a press release from ATMIS, the discussions were to help align the logistical support it receives based on CONOPS.

ATMIS is operating under very tight deadlines, as per the UN Security Resolution 2628.

It is expected to reduce its troops in Somalia by as much as 2,000 by the end of December 2022 before pulling out of the country completely by December 2024.

Lt. Gen. Diomede Ndegeya, ATMIS Force Commander, says the mission needs to be more efficient in acquiring, supplying, and delivering critical material for combat operations.

The recent meeting and discussions were designed to help with that.
