The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has confirmed plans to withdraw a further 4,000 troops from the country by June 2024.
ATMIS confirmed this at the conclusion of a conference for its top commanders.
The four-day conference ended in Mogadishu on Thursday.
During the conference, participants discussed strategies for the final offensives against Al-Shabaab fighters around the country.
ATMIS top honchos confirmed that they would proceed with phase 3 of the drawdown.
The organization is scheduled to leave Somalia completely by December 31, 2024.
