ATMIS’ Ethiopian Contingent Feted at Beletweyne

The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) contingent from Ethiopia was feted on Tuesday, June 7.

The Ethiopian contingent has completed its two-year tour of duty.

Top African Union (AU) officers were at Sector 4 in Hiiran, HirShabelle state to deliver the certificates of merit to the Ethiopian contingent.

The soldiers received recognition for distinguished service in not only securing peace but also working closely with security forces in Somalia to deter terrorists.

Colonel Yeshiwas Kerebet, the Deputy Commander of ATMIS Sector 4, commended the troops for their gallant efforts.

Governor Ali Jeyte Osman of the Hiiran region attended the function.

Representatives from the civil society were at the function too.
