The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) handed over yet another forward operating base (FOB) in HirShabelle to the Somali National Army (SNA).
ATMIS’ Burundian contingent handed over the FOB to SNA on Monday.
The handing over of the FOBs is part of the Phase 3 of the ongoing drawdown of ATMIS forces from Somalia.
ATMIS has until December 31, 2024 to leave Somalia completely.
The operating base is near Balcad, a HirShabelle town.
