The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has appealed for increased humanitarian assistance in Somalia from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
This took place following discussions between ATMIS Force Commander Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma and Antoine Grand, the Head of Delegation of the ICRC in Somalia.
Lt. Kavuma and Grand met at the Mission Headquarters in Mogadishu.
During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing humanitarian support provided by ICRC to conflict-affected communities, with a particular focus on how ATMIS plays a role in maintaining peace and security in the region.
